Frequently Asked Questions
- What are the advantages of having a metal roof?
Metal roofs are flexible, durable, fire retardant, energy efficient, lightweight & recyclable. They can be installed in a range of colours.
- What is the difference between Colorbond and Zincalume?
Zincalume is steel that is dipped in a zinc based product to give a protective coating. The same process is carried out to create Colorbond sheeting, then taken one step further. The Zinc coils are placed in an oven and the colour is then baked and bonded onto the zincalume coating. Hence the name ‘Colorbond’.
- What colours are available for my roof?
There are over 20 Colorbond colors to choose from. Click here to view the full Colorbond range.
- Will changing my roof increase the value to my property?
Yes it will. The removal of hazardous asbestos from an old roof will ensure a safer work environment and a greater resale value. Re-roofing with ColorBond and Zincalume materials will only enhance your properties appearance, at the same time make it environmentally healthy and safe.
- Do I need to vacate my home while my roof is being done?
No. Your safety is our highest priority so before and during your roof replacement, our Tradesmen will ensure they identify areas of danger at the location. It is a must that you, the home owner or the owner’s tenant be aware of the potential dangers and keep away from working areas. In the event we are removing asbestos fibro sheeting, we advise that you stay indoors and keep all windows closed during the removal procedure or go out during the time we are working during the day.
- Can you re-spray tiled roofs?
Depending on the material and method used it is completely acceptable to spray concrete roof tiles. However never spray terracotta as it would interfere with the natural quality of the clay and over time will peel away from the glazed surface.
- What is “sarking”?
Sarking is a flexible membrane that is installed under the timber tile battens when the roof is fitted. Sarking has many benefits including thermal insulation, prevention of wind driven rain penetrating roof spaces and reduction of dust in the roof spaces. We recommend the use of a good quality sarking regardless of pitch and wind category rating.
